WORLD’S OLDEST FUNCTIONING DOORS: 2,000-YEAR-OLD BRONZE MARVELS OF ROMAN ENGINEERING STILL IN USE IN ROME SINCE EMPEROR HADRIAN’S ERA

Rome is home to the world's oldest doors still in use—a pair of monumental bronze doors cast around 115 AD during Emperor Hadrian’s grand reconstruction. These ancient doors, each an impressive seven and a half feet wide and twenty-five feet high, stand as a testament to Roman engineering. Crafted entirely from solid bronze, they are so precisely balanced that a single person can effortlessly push or pull them open, even after nearly two millennia.
